I graduated with a BS in Environmental Science in 2007 from UC Santa Cruz. Rather than a job related to my degree, I wanted to use the passion of my own health and wellness to help others get into shape. I am also the type of person who falls asleep if I am sitting for too long. I wanted a job that was fun, active and on my feet. I get energy by giving energy.
I got my first training certification in 2008 and built a successful clientele in the San Francisco Bay Area by late 2009. After 5 amazing years and accruing several more certifications, I decided to pursue a formal education for physical fitness. I needed a deeper understanding of the science on which my career was based. I went back to school for a post-baccalaureate in Biology. This was to better my understanding so as to deliver a better service to my clients. A knowledgeable trainer is a much more helpful one. The coursework for this included the Biology Series, Anatomy and Physiology, Chemistry, Physics, Gross Human Anatomy, Microbiology and Cadaver Lab and Dissection.
This year I will be taking Human Nutrition and Exercise Physiology. Both classes will help me prepare for the NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification and NASM's Nutrition and Master Trainer certifications. These are for my professional and personal growth and to better serve the people whose lives I am passionate about enriching.
